Overview
There are no more
new computers today that don't come at least with a CD-ROM drive. They will
allow you to read CDs and install most of today's applications. If you don't
have a CD-ROM drive (at least), it is strongly recommended that you get one.
CD-RW drives will
also allow you to write to CDs. They are the cheapest form of data backup and
they are highly effective. Or maybe you want to transfer large files easily
between your home and work computer. Or share files with your friends. Whatever
your needs, CD-RW drives are easy to use and very reliable.
DVD-ROM and DVD-RW
drives do essentially the same things as CD-ROM and CD-RW drives, except they
use larger-capacity discs (DVDs).
